    Course Description

    This is a direct, systematic, and highly interactive reading comprehension program that teaches students practical strategies to build their reading comprehension while bolstering their vocabulary and academic acumen. The course aligns with the SSAT/HSPT and PSAT 8/9 tests which will be used to measure the students’ achievement.

    The comprehension reading materials will be selected from multiple sources and delivered to students by PDF files. We will use the Merriam-Webster's vocabulary Builder based on Latin Roots. A knowledge of Greek and Latin roots will not only help you remember the meanings of the words you are learning in class but will help you guess at the meanings of new words that you run into elsewhere. This is the most powerful way to continue expanding your vocabulary in the future.

    Reading 2: PSAT 8/9 Reading Passages and Skills
    Merriam-Webster's Vocabulary Builder based on Latin Roots - the best vocabulary tool for standard tests.

    This is an 8-week complete review and test practice package for students who plan to take SAT tests.

    This package uses materials focused on the most complicated SAT topics and problems as well as more advanced test skills and time management strategies to optimize scores.  The package includes proctored tests that replicate the stress of the actual test.

    All class materials are offered in PDF files for free.  The hard copy of books may involve extra book fees.
