Note: Half-day camps can be combined as full-day camps from 8:30am-5pm.

  • Week 1 (07/08-07/12)

    This is the 1st out of 3 CogAt camps. This week of camp will work on 5 sections: Verbal Analogy, Verbal Classfication, Verbal Sentence Completion, Number Analogy and Number Series

    Academic Advance and SUMMA Test Preparation CogAt Camp for Grade 3

    This 3 weekly-half-day camp package is to prepare students for the CogAt tests in the coming Fall term.

    This is a SUMMA Package for rising 3rd graders in Elementary school who would like to prepare for the SUMMA CogAt tests. The tests can be selected to take in the coming Fall semester. Scoring 99 percentile in CogAt test will qualify for SUMMA in middle school. Or scoring one 99 percentile in ITBS Math or Reading, plus one 97 percentile in another ITBS test or CogAt test will qualify for SUMMA too. 

    This camp will teach the skills for all 9 sections in CogAt tests and do practice and mock tests. Summer CogAt test preparation are designed to finish by 3 weeks of half-day camps.     This is the 1st out of 3 CogAt camps for K-2. The camp will work on the 3 Verbal sections: Verbal Anlogy, Verbal Classification and Verbal Sentence Completion.

    This is the CogAt fundamental training camp for Kindergarten-2nd grade. The camp will build up the fundation and skills for students to take the TAG test in the next school year. 

    The Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) is a multiple-choice test designed to measure a child's academic aptitude. It is used to measure cognitive development among children and is often used to identify gifted children for admissions into gifted and talented programs across the United States.

    The goal of this camp is to have the young students familiarize with the test format. But a more important goal to set up this camp is to improve the cognitive and reasoning abilities by learning the logical and creative thinking behind the materials. The verbal skills and some figure cognitive skills in the CogAt test may take more time to build up, which are the common weak areas for most students.

2024 Winter/Spring Live Online Class

    This is the CogAt test preparation class for 3rd-grade students in Elementary school to qualify for the TAG program. The purpose is to let students study the test skills and get better performance in the test.  The long term benefit of this class is to help students improve the cognitive and reasoning abilities by learning logical and creative thinking behind the materials, which are critical for their future success.

    The 3rd & 5th graders will go to take the CogAt test at school in Fall,  A student in K-3rd grade who scores with 99 percentile at CogAt will qualify for the TAG program in Elementary school. A student in 4th-6th grade who scores with 99 percentile at CogAt will qualify for the SUMMA program in Middle School.

    The first 5-week of the class will focus more on the 3 screening sections: Verbal Analogies, Figure Matrices, and Number Analogies. And then we will have a few more sessions to focus on the other 6 sections for students who are invited to take the full-lenght CogAt tests.

    The CogAt screening test will be given to all 3rd graders in BSD schools at the end of October or the beginning of November each year.

    Students who get 97% or plus in the screening test will be invited to take the full test later in the Fall term. Students who get 99% in the full test will qualify for the SUMMA program in Middle schools. 

    Sunshine will provide all testing materials for students to practice with. We use the online practice test with instant scoring and report along with the classes. All online practice test reports are saved in your Sunshine account and you may check your child's performance via the "Assessment Tests" link in your account.

    Students who get 97% or plus in the screening test will be invited to take the full test later in the Fall term. Students who get 99% in the full test will qualify for the SUMMA program in Middle schools. 

    Sunshine will provide all testing materials for students to practice with. We use the online practice test with instant scoring and report along with the classes. All online practice test reports are saved in your Sunshine account and you may check your child's performance via the "Assessment Tests" link in your account.
